Broadhembury & District Gardening Club meets on the first Wednesday of every month at Broadhembury Memorial Hall. The club is a friendly group of enthusiastic amateur gardeners. At most meetings we will welcome a visiting speaker, but we value our shared expertise and often have an input from a member.
Meetings always include a raffle, a plant sale and a tea break and are always informal. As well as the monthly meetings we hold an annual plant sale in the village square, in 2017 it was on May 13th. Luckily the rain held off and although the church clock chimes , which signal the start, failed to ring we had a very successful sale.We held our annual, very light-hearted flower and vegetable show on August 2nd and crowned a new champion, Valerie Breakspear. Mandy Persey won best in show for her exquisite cut flower arrangement.
On March 1st 2017 we welcomed the famous radio and TV gardener, Bob Flowerdew . An audience of 160 enjoyed a humorous and informative talk followed by a question and answer session.
Our next meeting is on September 6th and our guest speaker is Helen Kearney who will be talking about Hedgerow Medicine.
