Broadhembury & District Gardening Club meets on the first Wednesday of every month at Broadhembury Memorial Hall. The club is a friendly group of enthusiastic amateur gardeners. At most meetings we will welcome a visiting speaker, but we value our shared expertise and often have an input from a member.
Meetings always include a raffle, a plant sale and a tea break and are always informal. As well as the monthly meetings we hold an annual plant sale in the village square, in 2018 it will be on Saturday May 5th.
We held our annual, very light-hearted flower and vegetable show on August 2nd and crowned a new champion, Valerie Breakspear. Mandy Persey won best in show for her exquisite cut flower arrangement.
In March 2017 we welcomed the famous radio and TV gardener, Bob Flowerdew . An audience of 160 enjoyed a humorous and informative talk followed by a question and answer session.
Our next meeting will feature Charles Dowding who will talk on “No dig gardening” This will be held on Wednesday February 7th at 7:30pm. All members and guests are very welcome.
Our programme for 2018/19 will be published shortly. One highlight will be a talk from Anne Swithinbank, another Gardener’s Question Time favourite!
